Global contest for startups by Shenzen Govt, China

The Innovation Competition for International Talents will be held in host-city Shenzhen, China in April this year, after a round of regional contests in major startup hubs including Sydney & Silicon Valley.

The winners & finalists will receive funding of between US $2000 & US $80,000, while VC funds will also invest up to $100 million in the winners. The competition is an initiative of the Shenzhen Economic and Trade Office (SETO) to turn ideas into real products.

The competition participants will have the chance to gain insight & direction from senior industry specialists & therefore improve both their projects & their experience of working with leaders in the China market. The Shenzhen Government is providing assistance through the introduction of a range of funds & policies which will support a number of the projects to accelerate their industrialisation & utilization by the public.

Eligibility:

  • The competitor must not have registered a Chinese enterprise or worked in a Chinese enterprise at the time of event registration
  • The competitor could be intending to register an enterprise or seek employment within Shenzhen, China
  • The lawful rights of the product, technology or related patents in the competition are retained by the participants, & any associated torts & intellectual property violations are the participants’ responsibility

The Division Heats:

First Prize – US$5,000
Two Second Prizes of US$3,000 each &
Three Third Prizes of US$2,000 each

The Grand Final:

First Prize – US$80,000
Three Second Prizes of US$50,000 each &
Six Third Prizes of US$30,000 each

For winning projects of the Championship final that intend to register an enterprise or seek employment in the Longgang District, Shenzhen, China, within 6 months following the competition, extra prizes will be provided by the Longgang Government.

1st Prize – RMB 400,000
3 second prizes of RMB 300,000 each &
6 third prizes of RMB 200,000 each

All participants will also have the opportunity to receive investment through the competition’s investment service platform. All the participants can attend the international talent exchange meeting in Shenzhen China.
