The mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) currently offers free basic call & data service on top of other carriers’ networks & now sells its own brand Android mobile phone at a very reduced cost.
The company announced availability of the FreedomPop V7 dual SIM smartphone in the UK & Spain, with the US & other markets to come soon. It’s a somewhat under-powered phone, much like its free service which is limited to only 200 MB of data, 200 minutes in phone calls & 200 texts per month. But for only £59 / €59 you’ll be hard pressed to find a better specced low end phone. Here are the highlights:

The phone isn’t locked to FreedomPop, so you can use it with any other operator, & it’s really handy if you want to try out FreedomPop while keeping your current carrier, since the phone is Dual SIM, meaning you can have two separate phone numbers active on it at the same time.
FreedomPop has been expanding internationally at a rapid pace of late. It was founded in 2012 in Los Angeles, California, USA. Its main focus is to provide free mobile phone service for free, hoping that clients will upgrade to one of its less limited pay plans. It’s gone beyond servicing the US & is now present in Mexico, the UK, Spain & in 30+ countries.
