‘Enlight’ teaches novice programmers to write code by building projects

enlight

If you want to put together your own Website without relying on others to do it for you, then you’re going to have to learn some amount of coding. Educational Site ‘Enlight’ relies on well written tutorials to help people who are just starting out writing code develop skills & clear up a lot of the ins & outs of buildingWebsites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript & other related web tech, like JQuery, AJAX….

The resource is available Online for free & is put together by New Jersey, USA-based developer Samay Shamdasani, who says that he based the Site on lessons he learned while starting out & on his own experience while learning to code. His journey started by taking a bunch of Online courses & by reading books on JavaScript. This was followed by scanning tutorials & finally scraping code on GitHub, which led to his developing mini projects.

These mini projects are the basis for Enlight, which is Samay’s attempt at “sharing my knowledge of these mini projects so that you can develop your skills by actually creating something”.  Each of the 6 project tutorials currently available, come with full source code, a demo & well laid out step by step instructions.

To give you an idea, the ‘Build a Quote Generator’ project tutorial, which displays a random quote using the ‘Quote API’, shows you how to use JQuery to make a Website present a quote after the space button is pressed, using AJAX to service requests between the API & handling the JSON response. It shows you how to put together the index.html, style.css & app.js (for functions & API calls).

The structure for the other tutorials is very similar, so you’ll get simple projects to work on like: a Hex color generator, a text editor, an analog clock, a to-do list or a digital whiteboard.
