It’s official.Edge will replace Internet Explorer: Microsoft

So it’s out. Microsoft’s new browser which was dubbed ‘Project Spartan’ so far, will formally be called Microsoft Edge. The latter will be positioned as a ultra-modern, super-fast Web browser that provides lots of contextual information.

At its Build 2015 developer conference, Microsoft announced that Project Spartan will be called Microsoft Edge. Joe Belfiore, Microsoft’s Corporate Vice President of the operating systems group, made the announcement on stage.

Edge will integrate with Cortana, Microsoft’s virtual personal assistant, too. Edge will be Microsoft’s new browser shipping on all Windows 10 devices, including Tablets & smartphones. The name Edge, said Joe, was chosen as it meant to “being on the edge of consuming & creating.”
Edge represents the Redmond major’s 1st major attempt to work within widely-accepted Internet standards. At the conference, Microsoft also spoke of how easy it would now be for developers to take popular Chrome extensions like Pinterest’s “Pin It” tool and bring them to Microsoft Edge.

In a related development, Microsoft has also set a “bold” for Windows 10 – running 10 billion devices with the new OS. This was announced by Windows unit head Terry Myerson at the Build conference in San Francisco.

Here are the details on Edge from the Online world & also some details of the Build 2015.
