Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai announced during Thursday’s 4th quarter results call that YouTube Shorts had achieved 50 billion daily views, up from 30 billion a year ago.
Just under $8 billion in income was generated by YouTube, down from $8.6 billion at the same period last year. Like other digital behemoths grappling with declining ad revenue, Alphabet blamed the drop to advertisers cutting back on spending due to worries about an impending recession.
The daily views report came just one day after YouTube enabling creators to share advertising revenue from short-form videos with the firm.
