Following some sort of an uproar over the “ethics” around Google’s AI voice, ‘Duplex’, the company said on Thursday that it will design disclosures into the feature. Duplex AI system called a restaurant & a salon to make reservations, replayed at the Google I/O event, without the persons on the other side not suspecting anything.
The company said transparency in the technology was important. A Google spokeswoman said in a statement. “We are designing this feature with disclosure built-in, and we’ll make sure the system is appropriately identified. What we showed at I/O was an early technology demo, and we look forward to incorporating feedback as we develop this into a product.”
