From the “Ice bucket Challenge” to the “Cinnamon Challenge”, every now & then, new challenges go viral on social media. One of the more popular ones these days is the “Accent Challenge.” While this challenge has been around for quite a while on various social media platforms, it recently went viral on Tumblr again with various people posting videos of them pronouncing various words.

The idea of the Accent Challenge is quite simple. It’s simply intended for people to show off their accents. To do this, Tumblr users simply post videos of themselves pronouncing some words & answering some simple questions as a means of “showing off” their accents. Alternatively, instead of making a video, you can do a screen recording as you take this challenge. This method allows you to capture the sound while showing a photo of the instructions for the challenge so that others can join in too if they want. To ensure that more people see your video, you can post it on Tumblr, with the hashtag #accent challenge.

For the Accent Challenge, Android users have to download an app for screen recording if they want to record themselves taking the challenge. But for iPhone users with phones running on iOS 11 & higher versions, the features are already built into their device & you won’t need to download a separate app for it.  You can easily add the screen recorder to your Control Center from the ‘Settings’ section.

Here are some of the questions you are required to answer verbally to show off your accent in the Tumblr Accents Challenge:

What’s your name & username?

Where are you from?

The Accent Challenge word list (say each of these): Aunt, Roof, Envelope, Route, Theater, Caught, Salmon, Caramel, Fire, Coupon, Tumblr, Pecan, Both, Again, Probably, GPOY, Lawyer, Water, Mayonnaise, Pajamas, Iron, Naturally, Aluminium, GIF, New Orleans, Crackerjack, Doorknob, Alabama, Pajamas…

So go on, speak your mind.
