There’s no one term to describe this Online outfit. Content curator, aggregator, social news service…all 3 descriptions fit it well. Reddit, as many of you would know, never used to generate Content of its own. Instead, it would link to other Websites, images, etc. But things are changing.
Reddit has started venturing into making its own Content, too. It recently launched a podcast & newsletter. Today, it took another step into turning into a media company by launching a video division. Reddit’s mission was to connect people across the world through authentic conversations, collaboration, and community — video was an amazing storytelling medium and there’s no better wellspring of original stories than Reddit, co-founder Alexis Ohanian told The Verge.
