Anti-virus firm AVG today said it had discovered an Android malware that was capable of spying on users’ actions even when their device appeared switched off. Called PowerOffHijack, it is feared that the malware had already spread through Chinese app stores to over 10,000 devices. The malicious software will only work on rooted devices running Android KitKat or below. It takes effect when a user activates the power switch to turn off the device.
