Edit Content not pixels is “Facet’s” tagline – Startups

Artificial intelligence (AI) is getting into all aspects of our lives. Even Content.

Recently, “Facet”, an “AI-native, API-first” image editor came Online, to aid digital storytelling. According to its CEO, Joe Reisinger, who writes on the editing tool’s official blog: Put simply, Facet helps engineer images at scale, through assistive creative tools. We built Facet to be a conduit between the relentless pace of lab-bound AI research & creatives of all stripes: professional photographers, retouchers, & designers, as well as the new generation of creatives working at true Internet scale.”

So What Really Is Facet?

Facet claims to be the “1st ever fully Content-aware image.” This browser-based image (& soon video) editing tool can be described as an AI-run Photoshop. It decomposes images & videos in human terms: lighting, color, composition, & Content, powering interactive editing that goes beyond inert blocks of pixels, writes Joe. At heart, it is a modern layer-based photo editing tool.

As a new photo editing tool 2021, Facet is fluent in the language of professional-grade, non-destructive editing, & is compatible with existing tools like Photoshop & Capture One.

Creative people can use Facet to post-process fashion, portrait, & architectural photography, make mixed-media collages & animations, not to mention “blend oil painting with photography.” Common professional use-cases of Facet include editing large collections of images in batch, precisely matching colors & styles across images to achieve on-spec, on-brand consistency automatically.

Facet being browser-based is to an advantage because it supports real-time creative collaboration.

The makers of Facet claim over 25,000 had already signed up for the waitlist for getting access to this photo editing tool, forcing the former to “accelerate” the launch of its professional & Teams tiers.
