Lighter Facebook app aimed at African & Asian markets

Social network Facebook has introduced a “toned-down” light version of its app called Facebook Lite. This Android version is built for places around the globe where Internet access is sketchy or difficult.
Announcing Lite on its official blog, FB said: In many areas, networks can be slow and not able to support all the functionality found in Facebook for Android. Facebook Lite was built for these situations, giving people a reliable Facebook experience when bandwidth is at a minimum.
Facebook Lite is less than 1 megabyte to download, which, by comparison to the original Facebook app is extremely light (original weight is about 95MB). FB Lite is said to be ideal for emerging markets like Asia, South America & Africa. The app includes almost the same features the core Facebook app does except videos.
