Security issues are becoming more of a concern to iOS device users given the recent news of law enforcement, government snoopers & malicious hackers, making secret inroads into our iPhones. People are worried & are taking measures to protect their privacy & to safeguard their communication & other smartphone activity. With this app you can get detailed info about your device & running apps from a security perspective.
The list of features, according to SektionEins GmbH, the German company that developed the app, includes:
- CPU usage
- Memory usage
- Disk usage
- Process list
- Inspect running apps: SHA1 Hash, Signature, Entitlements
- Jailbreak detection
- Security anomaly detection
- Malware detection
The tool is not only useful for professional security experts, but can be easily used & understood by normal users to determine if something is wrong with their systems’ security. A list of 6 tests that are run is presented with a traffic light signal next to each test, which if it’s green, means that the test ran ok. It determines if code injection or a jailbreak has been done on the device, which if the user doesn’t know about it (i.e. – a secret “unlock” has been done), is often the first step used by hackers to install spyware or keyloggers that can result in your identity being stolen, or in outright theft.
It should be noted that these hacks are cumbersome & are not often, if ever, done on a device without a user’s knowledge. The tool does, however, also provide a wealth of technical information about the device that goes well beyond the native iOS Sys Info feature, & could be useful to iOS hobbyists & developers.
