Free version of Microsoft Teams announced, along with other Microsoft 365 features

IT major Microsoft has announced additional features to Microsoft 365, one of them being Microsoft Teams is now available in a free version for up to 300 team members.

Microsoft announced on its official blog that Teams was available in a free version worldwide in 40 languages. It was only last year that Microsoft Teams was introduced – a hub for teamwork that brings together chat, meetings, calling, files, & apps into a shared workspace in Microsoft 365. Microsoft revealed that over 200,000 businesses across 181 markets were now using Teams to collaborate & get work done.

The free version includes:

Other features include new capabilities that allow anyone in an organization to create ‘live’ & on-demand events in Microsoft 365. Events can be viewed in real time or on-demand, with high-definition video & interactive discussion.

Powered by Artificial Intelligence, this involves a speaker timeline, which uses facial detection to identify who is talking, so you can easily jump to a particular speaker in the event, speech-to-text transcription, timecoding, & transcript search, so you can quickly find moments that matter in a recording.

But the best feature, say many, is the Microsoft Whiteboard which will now be generally available for Windows 10. The new Whiteboard application enables people to ideate, iterate, & work together both in person & remotely, across multiple devices. Using pen, touch, & keyboard, you can jot down notes, create tables & shapes, freeform drawings, & search and insert images from the Web.
