Facebook launches emojis. Testing ground for ‘dislike’ button?

On Thursday, social network Facebook announced it will begin testing 6 emojis, similar to the thumbs-up ‘like’ icon. The new emojis depict various expressions, from happiness to sadness.  The new reaction icons will be available to most Facebook users in Spain & Ireland by the end of this week.

Mark Zuckerberg announced on FB: We studied which comments & reactions are most commonly & universally expressed across Facebook, then worked to design an experience around them that was elegant & fun. Starting today Ireland & Spain can start loving, wow-ing, or expressing sympathy to posts on Facebook by hovering or long-pressing the Like button wherever they see it. We’ll use the feedback from this to improve the feature & hope to roll it out to everyone soon.
