Hitting the right chord with audio Content developers, Amazon made this announcement on its recent blog post.
The Music Skill API gives you self-service access to the Alexa capabilities you need to enable customers to search your catalog via voice, & stream their choices to Amazon Echo & other Alexa-compatible devices.
Jazz it up
Developers can make available their music catalog metadata to Amazon on a regular basis, saving them the need to create their own voice user interface. Post which, Amazon will update the Alexa voice model & grammars used by customers.
Play it by ear
After developers build & publish their music skill, users can stream to any Amazon Echo, Alexa enabled devices, or to several Echo devices using multi-room music. What’s more, these songs can double as alarms too.
To play music, customers need to utter the golden command: “Alexa, play songs by <artiste> from <your music service>.”
Fine tuning
Developers can power the experience with skip limits & stream protection. They may monitor & better ongoing skill performance incorporating event metrics which includes skill enablement & disablement, account linking & music playback. Not to mention, the self-service manner of using the Alexa Skills Kit.
Hit the right note
Available currently to use with US skills, developers may refer to Understanding the Music Skill API for a better comprehension. Apart from this, Amazon has also provided tools to the Certification tab in the Alexa developer console. This is to help developers validate their music skills before submission for certification.
