If you’re still not familiar with what a bot is, here’s what BotArena says the standard definition consists of:
A bot is software that is designed to automate the kinds of tasks you would usually do on your own, like making a dinner reservation, adding an appointment to your calendar or fetching and displaying information. The increasingly common form of bots, chatbots, simulates conversation. They often live inside messaging apps — or are at least designed to look that way — and it should feel like you’re chatting back and forth as you would with a human.
The platform is a user-generated Site, as it relies on bot developers & users to submit descriptions & other info to populate its description fields. It categorizes its bots into platforms, having following at the moment: Android, Facebook, Slack, Kik, iPhone, Messenger, Telegram, Teamchat, web & WhatsApp. It also breaks its list of bots down by categories: Game, Social, News, Education, Entertainment, Photo, Video, Utility, Chatbot, Health, Weather, Productivity, Food, LifeStyle, Travel, Security & Business.
BotArena claims to have a thorough vetting process & will only admit submissions that provide complete & accurate info, including images of less than 2 MB.
If you want to distinguish between Artificial Intelligence-based (AI) & decision-based bots, you’ll also be able to do that on the platform, via a handy search function that helps you break down the categories by these 2 criteria.
The platform is very recent & as yet has a limited number of bots listed, but is growing fast. It is based in Bangalore, India.
