Unstyler, de-styles Websites as you browse

Beautifying Websites is the job of CSS (Cascading Style Sheets). These sheets hold the specifications for adding color, position, fonts &, these days, animation elements to Web pages, which morphs them from the plain-&-ordinary into the gorgeous Sites we see so frequently on the Net.

If you’ve ever wondered just how bland a Website would look without all the fancy effects added by CSS, you’re in luck, since Miguel Piedrafita, a 16-year-old developer has built an extension for Chrome (desktop), which strips all CSS from Web pages. The application is named for its usage, ‘Unstyler’.

Now, as you surf the Web & come across a particularly appealing page, you can simply click a button to see the site as an HTML only page. There are several use cases, which have more than mere curiosity at their root, where this tool could be applied – it could be useful to wannabe developers, who might need to gain insight into page building techniques & CSS effects. Also, often, when reading an in depth article on a Website, one might find the fancy CSS elements distracting, so now, you’ll be able to read without these, sometimes, annoying features.

Naturally, if you want to return to a styled page, Miguel has thought of that too, & provided a button to reverse the process, which you can use at any point. Whatever your reasons for employing this application, & enjoying a style free experience of the Net, a word or two should be said about the developer, who is remarkable not only for his youth, but also for the number of projects he has going, simultaneously – he has created a coding community to assist interested teenagers, contributed to more than 350 projects & launched 3 of his own (Unstyler, Unmarkdocs, Snaptier), so to support this energetic teen head over to his Chrome extension & embark on an ‘Unstyler’ Net ride.
