The WhatsApp security hole – Quick wrap

A vulnerability in WhatsApp that has come to light has evoked a strong reaction Online from users. The loophole allowed attackers to inject commercial Israeli spyware on to phones, Facebook, the company that owns WhatsApp, acknowledged this but said it had been repaired.

WhatsApp is used by 1.5bn people worldwide. The security hole was discovered in early May. It allowed attackers to install surveillance software on to both iPhones & Android phones by ringing up targets using the app’s phone call function.
