Slack is a seamless tool for coordinating your team’s collaborations. But as convenient as it is, you run into some minor issues once in a while. There are a number of add-ins & bots you can make use of in order to get around these problems for a richer experience on the Slack platform.

With a lot going on within your team a lot of information passing around, finding an important piece of information from 1 of your previous conversations might be a little bit of a challenge. Sometimes the information you need isn’t even on Slack at all which mean you might have to open up another app entirely to retrieve it.

Thankfully you can now solve that issue quite easily. ‘Familiar Bot’ or Fam Bee is Slack bot offers an intuitive way of looking up information in your conversations or elsewhere Online without having to switch apps.

With Familiar Bot, you can search for information from Wikipedia articles. You can also retrieve ‘live’ data Online such as weather reports, stock prices, etc. This way you can keep your conversations flowing smoothly without having to interrupt search for important information elsewhere.

After adding Familiar Bot to your team from the Slack store, you can invite or employ the use of Fam Bee to any of your channels simply by mentioning him, you can also send a private message to the bot alone or together with your teammates using @familiarbot.

Another way of accessing the Fam bot is by using the slash commands; /familiarbot or /wiki which allows you to interact with the bot privately anywhere on Slack. The Bot only responds when you mention and only tracks his own mentions and nothing else it so you can always be assured of your privacy when using the bot.
