Soon, Alexa to make & accept calls on Skype

Soon, you will be able talk to your loved ones on Skype using your Echo devices. In an announcement by Skype, the company revealed its plans to bring Skype calling to Alexa-powered devices. This means that users can communicate with their acquaintances from their Echo devices by “simply using voice”, it said in the blog post.

This will help users in making outgoing Skype voice & video calls, accept incoming Skype calls, & also make SkypeOut calls to most phone numbers across the globe. With this, you can instantly request Alexa to call, or even answer Skype calls.

Be it PC, mobile phone or Xbox, using any device for easy connect, Alexa users will be able to benefit from the Skype network across the world.

Earlier in August, Microsoft had announced that US customers who are interested in early access to the collaboration will be able to summon Cortana on Echo devices & enable Alexa on their Windows 10 PCs & Harman Kardon Invoke speakers. The collaboration between the 2 was announced last fall.

Alexa integration has been added on Xbox too. The post also stated that more plans are on the anvil to get the best out of Skype & Alexa combination.

Skype calling on Alexa will begin rolling out later this year.
