‘Loom’ helps you record desktop video for better communications – #Startups

How long it does it take for you to type a lengthy description for a product? Contrast this with a visually appealing video demonstration of the same product. A work communication tool, ‘Loom’ claims to provide visual solutions to text limited scenarios. It offers tools to power video recordings for colleagues & client communication. Work communication, it says, is more personal with the nuances of tone & facial expression.

The user needs to record on the front-facing camera, narrate it & then share it with a link. In addition to other features, the platform offers time-efficient & secure video storage, seamless Slack Integration & inline video sharing.

Additionally, the user may share videos to train a team member or to developers to eliminate bugs or unacceptable UI elements which might be difficult to explain in writing. With features & enhancements being presented on a video, Loom aims at making sales pitch simpler & visually appealing.

These videos can be watched by customers at the time convenient for them & they can revisit & replay as & when they wish. Moreover, you can communicate your ideas to people across the office, across the country or even people around the globe.

Loom will be available for Mac & Windows in the near future. Those interested can sign-up on their Website.

It offers 3 screen options:

  • Webcam only
  • Webcam & screen recording
  • Screen recording only

A ‘split screen’ display provides an instructor with Webcam ‘bubble’ addition to screen recordings, where they can add instructions or anecdotes to the screen recorded video.

According to Loom, 10 seconds of video recording are equal to 81 seconds of typing. Hence, the tool will not only get the work done faster but it would be more effective in transferring ideas too.

Loom also offers tools to password protect the recording by allowing the recipient exclusive access & protecting sensitive data.
