Quickly create personal home page for free with ‘My Static Page’ – Startup

If you want a simple personal Web page that you can host in your own server & easily take it along with you when switching servers, then ‘My Static Page’ will get the job done.

To get started, just visit ‘My Static Page’ & press on the ‘Create your new site now!’ button. You’ll be asked to fill in a couple of fields & optionally provide a photo. It then generates a simple responsive HTML Site for you. To finish up, just download the generated code & upload it to a server of your choice.

The service is template based, so it lets you choose from 8 different looks/layouts of your choice, with more in the pipeline. The whole thing is free & based on a Creative Commons Attribution license.

According to Ukraine-based Alan Mendelevich, the Site’s creator & maintainer, he put the service together to provide answers to a problem he was having some time ago. He had an abandoned personal blog & various other pages dispersed throughout the Web that he wanted to somehow interconnect.

Basically, he wanted a personal landing page to provide some basic info about him & link to different places where he could be engaged with on the Internet. The choices available weren’t satisfactory, as they wouldn’t allow him to use a domain of him choice or they came with a hefty price tag.

Thus, he created ‘My Static Page’, which produces pure HTML, CSS & JavaScript, that you can upload into any hosting provider. In a recent blog post Alan Mendelevich goes on to suggest that if you want a simple, free place to host your own personal site generated with ‘My Static Page’, just head on over to GitHub Pages & follow the instructions there.
