Offline browser offers 1-stop management for your Web repository – #Startups

Offline browser‘POLAR’ is a “powerful” offline browser that claims to make it easy to manage all your documents, Web Content, notes & books in 1 place. This offline browser works on all types of Windows, Mac & Linux systems. Also, it can be used to seamlessly manage all types of documents.

With POLAR, you can manage & read all types of pdf files, as well as open downloaded HTML pages for offline reading. All of these are kept in an organized documents repository from where you can access & manage them. Furthermore, your files are stored locally on your computer & can be transferred from 1 platform to the other. You can sort your files by time, or organize it by the reading progress. You can also archive special files & filter flagged documents.

POLAR helps you to keep track of your reading progress on every document you are reading through pagemarks. This way, you can pause & resume each document anytime you want to. Developers will also find POLAR quite interesting as the system is based on Web standard like electron, node, react & pdf.js.

1 of the most notable features of this app is the use of annotations such as flashcards, comments & text highlights which not only makes reading fun but also makes it easy to access information from your document anytime. All your annotations are stored on the sidebar which makes them easily accessible any time you want to use them while reading & they don’t alter the original Content of your file.

POLAR also makes it possible to read & annotate HTML documents through what is known as Content “capturing” which makes it possible to store HTML files permanently in a private archive & open it seamlessly by emulating different browsers. This ensures that captured pages are rendered properly. Moreover, rendering the Content as a tablet device also enhances the reading experience since it helps to get rid of annoying ads within the saved pages.
