Now, track your mobile phone by texting ‘Where are you?’ – New app

The very thought of losing one’s mobile phone sends a shudder down the spine. ‘Location SMS’, an offline phone finder, aptly summarizes its job description in its tagline.

How It Works

Location SMS sends a ‘Where are you?’ text message to the mobile phone. Thereafter, Location SMS will send an instant reply with its current GPS coordinates shown on the map.
If the phone is in ‘Do Not Disturb Mode’, you need to text ‘Lost’, this will make the phone ring, thereby making tracking the device easier.

Security Features

The app claims to have a built-in security strata to make it safe against possible misuse. Location information makes the device ‘findable’ if it has been stolen, for when the thieves turn it on (if it were switched off), it will send the GPS coordinates & let you know about its location. In addition, it’s you who gets to authorize people to locate your phone. This can be done by choosing a passcode or having select trusted contacts. The passcode mechanism prevents unauthorized access.

No Internet Needed

This is strictly a SMS service & the system does not need Internet to find the phone. The device can be located even if it’s Offline, it claims.

Geofence

If you wish to let your friends or family know that you have arrived or reached your destination safely on a daily basis, then you can set up a ‘geofence’, a feature in the app. Now, you don’t need to call the person to apprise them of your arrival or departure, for they’ll receive text messages confirming the same. You can also set ‘geofences’ to text people on certain days at certain times, outside those times it will be inactivated.

It also offers help with the navigation if one needs it.

In summary, this is a location app which sends data to a device on demand & can locate a device by GPS without an Internet connection. The app is free to download, but it offers in-app purchases.
