Lots of people have jumped on to the quantified self fitness wagon lately, & have to put up with unattractive smart watches or bands to track their exercise regime. Nokia says it now has a remedy to this “ugliness’ with its Steel HR, a stylish classic analog watch. The latter includes a digital readout & does around the clock heart rate monitoring, even as it goes about monitoring up to 10 different activities such as walking, dancing, running, swimming & even sleeping.

The watch connects to your smartphone with the free Health Mate app, so you can monitor trends to help you improve over time & join wellness programs. A small, discrete notification screen is embedded on the analog watchface, & you can use a discrete switch disguised as a crown to change from a continuous heart rate monitor to a digital watch, to seeing daily stats on steps distance & heart rate, & even get text, call & event notifications.
