New startup ‘Threads’ wants to go where no work collaboration software has been before – #Startups

new startupConversations in the workplace are a multi-million dollar field, one has to only look to Slack to see how successful this type of application can be. Also, it’s essential today because in the digital-centric world we live in, Online communication is almost a must.

There is, however, a problem that has emerged. Conversations often become bloated, & are difficult to track once multiple users get involved; threads spread, they become ungainly.  Any user attempting to search a conversation is left unfulfilled, without rudder or oar.

Loads of big names such as Facebook (Workplace) & Microsoft(Teams), have jumped in & attempted to find the sweet spot to attract users & keep them coming. Basically, Slack has lead the charge in this area, but it’s real-time conversation model still presents a gap for aspiring newcomers.

One such is Threads. This new startup acts as a asynchronous messaging application, a rather rare breed among its real-time siblings. What this means is that any conversation is categorized, searchable & aimed at a solution, rather than a general discussion.

Threads founder Rousseau Kazi is no novice when it comes to Online matters. He is a Facebook veteran, & has worked on countless socially interactive applications during his 6 year tenure. His plan is to offer an application that produces an effective solution to collaboration efforts by Online teams.

The new startup Threads assists users to find, mark & follow discussions in a unique manner, born out of Kazi’s dissatisfaction with the Facebook in-house team collaboration software he used as a Facebook employee. Workplace, Facebook’s platform in this field, is, in turn, based on the employee application Kazi used. He maintains that Workplace is merely a copy of Facebook & provides little or no additional, platform-specific enhancements on the basic social media application.

Kazi is also being very careful; he is testing his new startup thoroughly using a limited set of guinea pigs so that he can accurately measure user engagement difficulties. His effort has garnered the attention of investment capital players with deep pockets, such as Sequoia Capital, which has led a funding round that resulted in an US $11.5 million seed for the company. With the necessary funding under his belt, Kazi is set to launch Threads as a collaboration, discussion board with a difference, he has a free introductory level & a low-entry fee paid option, which comes in at around $10 per month. All in all, with these types of applications labeled as ‘Hot’, Threads is a platform to watch.
