Truth be told money is never enough. The other truth is people promise you all kinds of ways to make cash off the Internet, but these are largely scams. Most people still go through life with a 9 to 5 job, going to office every day. There’s an alternative that has cropped up in recent years – the possibility of working from home or remote.
People can now choose to work as Online freelancers, for example. All they need is a personal computer, some basic knowledge in a particular field, & a fast Internet connection. UserTesters is a platform that allows different individuals to earn a bit of money from the comfort of their living rooms. They also provide a service to different tech companies where they get user inputs on their newly developed apps or Websites.
Companies that have spent a lot of resources in creating an app will need to know that the fruit of their labor works how it’s supposed to. This is where the usability test comes in. They need an impartial person to use that particular app in order to give objective inputs on how it functions. Once a company has signed up for the Usertesters service they will receive a list of potential testers for their app (s).
They can then choose one & contact the person through his profile. Of course, they will have to discuss some terms such as how much they need to pay & the mode of money transfer. Once the details are agreed on, the app will be tested & the feedback given to the company.
UserTesters claims to be cheaper than hiring someone fulltime from a recruiting firm. Plus, the individual company will get to choose its own tools for the usability test. What’s more, they can manage all these actions over email.
For freelancers, this seems like the real deal. If they qualify to test a certain app then their name & contact information is forwarded to the particular company in need. They will also get user testing requests right in their email inbox. It is important to note that UserTesters only goes as far as linking the company & the tester & does not get involved in the negotiations. Neither does it facilitate payment.
They, however, give an estimate of how much a tester can expect to get paid for each job they undertake. This ranges anywhere from US $10 &$50. They also endeavor to explain the specifics of the job to people who don’t know anything about the practice.
