Insta360 Evo camera ‘sees’ & ‘records’ in 3D with 2 ‘eyes’ rather than 1

With so much emphasis being placed on virtual reality (VR) of late, it’s not surprising to see numerous peripheral devices springing up to make the experience not only possible but all the more ‘real’.

One such device is the new Intsa360 Evo camera. Weighing only 113 gms, but packing a mega-sized technological punch, the Insta360 is a 3D camera that shoots stills as well as videos in either 180 or 360 degrees. The camera has 2 lenses rather than 1, & this is what gives it the advantage when it comes to capturing true 3D footage.

The Insta360 Evo is not only capable of shooting 3D pictures & videos, it also does it in style, features such as Flowstate Stabilization & HDR resolution, put this minute device in a class of its own. Flowstate Stabilization means that the image remains stable even if your hands shake when you’re shooting, while HDR makes for rich color & contrast in your pictures. Additionally, videos of up to 5.7K size & stills of up to 18MP can be captured by the device.

The camera is meant for integration with VR headsets such as Oculus Go, HTC VIVE Focus & Samsung Gear VR, so that you can watch, or ‘see’ your 3D footage in its actual perspective. For those who don’t own such high-tech devices, Insta360 comes with its own 3D converting ‘box’, which slots over a smartphone & turns it into a VR viewing device. This appendage is called HoloFrame, & costs considerably less than a fully featured VR headset. In fact, even the camera is inexpensive, when you consider all its features, it can be ordered from the company’s website for under $450, with shipping included if you live in the US.

Insta360 Evo has a 65 min battery life after a 90 min charge, so you’ve got plenty of time to shoot those memorable 3D moments. The camera also offers ‘Time Shift’, which lets you shoot footage in slow motion or ‘fast motion’. Editing is supported via Adobe’s Premiere Pro, so you can splice & trim your videos & filter, frame & adjust your pictures to your heart’s content.

This is really photographic innovation at its height, a camera which ‘sees’ & ‘records’ the world as we see it with 2 ‘eyes’ instead of 1.
