The capability to turn text into an image offers 100s of opportunities to make various useful display elements for the Web or for print. Think Website header banners, insert block or advertising sections. Generally, to create an image with a text overlay, an image editing/constructing tool or app such as Photoshop would be used, but, then, most of these types of tools need to be downloaded onto a device or computer, & many are not free to use. With this is mind, Ahmad Rosid, the developer behind Thumbnaily, has set out to provide a quick & easy image creation tool, which has a very low learning curve. His simple editor is currently aimed at users who want to create an image with a text message. The image editing app requires no setup or login to use, & offers users a choice of background colors, font sizes & text positions. Also, users can choose the size of their image as well as the text color.
The developer, has promised to further enhance his app, by adding techniques to select font types, create image backgrounds, as well as making the tool available as a WordPress Plugin & a Chrome extension. Since the app is in beta phase, Ahmad is not charging for use of his editor. However, once he adds capability he plans to create paid levels whereby users will be asked to pay for additional functionality.
