These days you can do pretty much everything from your mobile device, even print documents or images.

Here’s how to print from smartphones or other mobile devices for both iOS & Android users:

Apple AirPrint

iOS users can make use of Apple AirPrint to get their documents or graphics printed without a need for any installations or configuration of drivers. However, your printer must be compatible with AirPrint. In some cases, you also have to enable to AirPrint functionality on your printer first. The process of setting up & using AirPrint is the same for all models of iOS devices.

Step 1: First, Connect both your printer & iPhone to one Wi-Fi network. If you are not sure of how to do this for the printer, consult the user manual.

Step 2: Check the Wi-Fi connection on an AirPrint supported reader like Evernote or on Safari, Mail or any other app you are using to open the document. You should find an icon on the app that directs you to print from a selected printer after scanning.

Step 3: Select the number of copies you want the printer to print. There are also additional options such as color, or specific page printing. Choose & print.

Email

Most new printer models now come with their own email addresses. One advantage of this is that you don’t even have to be physically present in the same room as your printer. You can send the file you want to print from anywhere you are & have it printed on the printer.

All you have to do is to send the file over email. You can either do this using the share button on the document you are sending directly or open your email client & attach the file as a document. Either way, you will have to insert your printer’s email address in the “Send To” field. However, you must ensure that your printer has this feature & has been activated for it.

Google Cloud Print

Google Cloud Print makes it possible for you to print your document from Google apps such as Gmail, Google docs, as long as you are signed into your Google account. If you don’t have it, create a new Google account if you don’t already have one. Android users should have no problem using Cloud Print. However, iOS users can make use of PrintCentral Pro instead. Once downloaded & launched choose the file you want to print & add your printer. For your Android device, you will usually find the options to add a printer on the settings page of your device. Your PrintCentral app on your iPhone should direct you to a page to add printer once you click on the save button.

Other apps

You can also get an app or software either from a 3rd party or developed by your printer’s manufacturer. Presto is a famous example, & it is compatible with almost all types of printers & works for both Android & iOS devices. Manufacturer apps such as Epson iPrint, Samsung mobile print can also work as well.
