Google’s effort at immersive ads – Marketing

Augmented reality (AR) is certainly going to be a boon to advertisers.

Just think about it, how would you like to try on makeup before you buy, or see how decor items might look in your home before committing to purchase?

Obviously, this is the next trillion dollar industry. Google is gong full steam in adding AR value to its marketing products, across the board. It has added elements to its search protocol, as well as updated the RCore. YouTube, a Google company, has also been included in this AR innovation.

Google Swirl

YouTube now has a new feature known as ‘AR Beauty Try-on’. It creates an immersive experience for users, allowing them to sample a product over the Internet, without the need to go in-store. M.A.C beauty products  has been the 1st company to launch its products via the medium. Companies can employ YouTube’s AR Beauty via FameBit  which connects brands with influencers who have the following to ensure that a product gets seen.

In addition to YouTube’s AR Beauty, Google has floated a tool for advertisers to create 3D immersive adverts. The platform called Google Swirl allows vendors to show off their products from all angles in a captivating manner that is also really ‘eye-popping’. Consumers can rotate a product, zoom in close or play an animation, which allows them to view the item in great detail.

Swirl is aimed at the mobile Web, which has always lacked the enhanced imagery, video & animation capabilities of desktop devices, this tool changes all that, elevating mobile advertising to desktop standards.

Swirl is available through Display & Video 360. Google has introduced Poly  an editor that transforms media assets into 3D adverts. The tool offers advertisers the ability to tweak their display animations, add backgrounds & edit in realistic shadows & reflections.

Google is hoping that these tools, which will be available for all brands later this year, will assist brands in producing highly immersive, hyper-realistic adverts which will educate consumers more effectively giving them the opportunity to make more informed purchases.
