Ghostery’s latest mobile version offers to fortify secure browsing – Company announcement

Ghostery, a free browser extension that offers a cleaner, faster & safer Internet browsing experience, recently launched a new version of its Ghostery Privacy Browser for Android & iOS. In an announcement on its Website, it said that this new version also integrates the full browser system of its parent company Cliqz. This, the company said, will help users get a fast, private, tracker & ad-free mobile browsing experience.

Furthermore, it will aid users in saving on mobile data & battery usage.

The new mobile browser is open source & has its core technology & certain features based on Mozilla-developed Firefox. Mozilla is also an investor in Ghostery’s parent company.

In order to improve Ghostery’s & Cliqz’s search & privacy products, mobile patrons may volunteer to contribute to “strictly anonymous statistical data”.

The privacy browser has added features to better user privacy for mobile browsing. It now comes armed with a combination of ad blocking & tracker protection of the Ghostery 8 desktop extension control panel with improved browser functionalities, the announcement stated.

Key features include:

  • Built-in ad blocker & tracker visibility & control
  • Enhanced privacy features for Android
  • Ghost Search
  • Ghost Mode
  • Enhanced protection
  • Start Tab with curated Websites
  • Mobile data saver
  • Password manager
  • Stop autoplay
  • Font size adapter

According to Jeremy Tillman, Director of Product at Ghostery,

Today’s mobile Web is increasingly bogged down by a pervasive ecosystem of trackers that clutter websites with ads, consume huge amounts of mobile data, violate users’ privacy, & even drain batteries. Users are paying for these unseen costs, not just in a poor user experience, but in their phone bills.”

The privacy browser is free & available for download in 14 different languages for Android in the Google Play Store & iOS in the App Store.
