China cracks down on “harmful” Internet info – Quick News

China has reportedly closed over 4,000 Websites & Online accounts in a 3-month campaign against “harmful” Online information.

News agency Reuters filed this report quoting the official Chinese news agency Xinhua. The latter talked of this last Saturday, citing the country’s illegal publication watchdog.

All of know by now that China has kept the reigns of the Internet under tight control. Of late, it seems, it has been cracking down on a range of illegal Online activities including pornography, gambling, religious proselytizing, etc. Xinhua said the campaign targeted Content in Online fiction that spread improper values, vulgarity & obscenity, as well as Content that infringed on copyright.

According to the report, the Chinese recently busted a live-streaming pornography platform hosted in Cambodia, with a user base of 3.5 million registered users.
