The idea behind this free Web app is to take all the people that subscribe to your email list & incentivize them to share your cool stuff with other people. On the ‘Thank You’ page of your lead magnets, you put a link to a page that incentivizes people to share by giving them more cool stuff. It asks them to tweet, & to email, & then it gives them additional free stuff once they actually do that.
According to Bryan Harris, the man behind the app, the way to get it is to actually use ‘SmartBribe’ to sign up for SmartBribe, so there’s this ‘inception’ stuff going on. So, the free thing they’re giving away is in fact, the free app SmartBribe. From the product page you enter the email, hit, “Yes, I want more traffic”, then we get to, “Share this to get early access to SmartBribe” & 2 other links – “Get unlimited beta access to SmartBribe”, & “Get a 60 minute live traffic tricks webshop”. Then, another link that says, ‘Click this to tweet.” After you click to tweet, it tells you to do 1 more thing: you need to mail a friend, then click share via email, which brings up a pre-populated mail for you.
Once you actually get the app, you can decide what these tweets & emails say for your own Site. It takes your current lead magnets, your current free stuff that you have on your Site, & instead of just offering them the generic ‘Thank You’ page, it incentivizes users to share that thing that they just signed up for with a friend so that they can get access to other free stuff.
SmartBribe is based on a strategy developed by Noah Kagan last summer for a very Site called traffic1m.com. Traffic1m doesn’t use the SmartBribe app, Bryan Harris just did a custom recode of it. The Traffic1m site gives away VIP courses on gaining traffic & lets you tweet & email about it. It gives away tons of stuff & drives a lot of traffic, so Harris just created this app to let you do the same thing easily on your own Site.
