Bing just got more zing. Microsoft Search unified across its platforms – News

Have you ever wished for a search box within Microsoft Word that helps you look for desired Content without you leaving the space? Moreover, by the time you are done searching, your work flow, ideas are already altered. Well, as a mark of an approval of your wish, Microsoft has put a “super charged” search box across Edge, Bing, Windows & Office apps & that too, it says, in a consistent, prominent place. Now, search should be just a click away.

Microsoft Search, enhanced with all new cohesive search functionality will make it easier for users to find what they need; this without users having to leave the work flow midway, the tech giant stated in an announcement on its blog.

The super charged search box not only helps you find people & related Content faster but it also aids you accessing commands for apps & navigate to other Content at the place you need to get it done; “even before you start typing in the search box,” the blog stated.

All your data, within or outside the purview of Microsoft 365 will be connected with Microsoft Search. Furthermore, empowered with Microsoft Graph functionality of providing “deep personalized insights” & Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology from Bing, the new search is expected to deliver relevant results based on your area of work. For this, the blog stated a related example, Microsoft Search will include automatically answering questions such as “Can I bring my wife & kids on a work trip?” This will incorporate machine reading comprehension based on world knowledge, combined with better understanding of your organization’s records.

To summarize the cohesive Microsoft Search experience:

  • The search bar will be in the same place across all Microsoft Platforms, on all devices; mobile, desktop & Web.
  • It will offer the user personalized results with a click in the search box.
  • The search box itself too will command the application irrespective of your place of work.
  • Search results will include results from across your organization.
  • Microsoft has extended the same organizational search experience wherever you are working; Bing.com (when signed in with your Office 365 account), Edge or Windows.
  • It offers unified administration of organizational search results, including admin-curated results such as bookmarks.

You can preview the capability of Microsoft Search as it rolls out to Office.com, Bing.com & in the SharePoint mobile app. In the offing are more experiences, features in Edge, Windows, & Office.
