Selfie apps abound online & are available in droves for both Android & iPhone. They are a time saver & a lot of fun to use if you’re a selfie freak. They can automatically apply filters to your photos & you can apply custom effects, often for free.

Here’s a short list of our picks in no particular order:

‘YouCam Perfect’ is one of the top-rated selfie photo editors on both  Android & iOS. It allows you to apply real time effects before you take a picture. It’s ideal for taking group selfies & lets you apply edits to the whole group. You can adjust background resolution & highlight faces so you’re always the center of attention. The app even has a handy eye bag remover that gets rid of those ugly circles under your eyes with one click.

Here we pick 2 different apps that you can use with hand gestures: Crunchfish’s ‘GoCam’ for iOS & ‘Snapi’ from eyeSight Technologies for Android: Both these apps are convenient & hands-free so no taps on your phone’s screen are needed. With these apps, you don’t need to stretch your fingers or hand to trigger your shot. Depending on which of the apps you use, you raise your palm and form a fist & open again or you make a peace sign gesture with your fingers to take a shot. Other hand gestures are also available for deleting the latest photo or wave to get detected.

GoCam is available for free on the Apple Store here & Snapi is also free on Google Play here.

The ‘B612’ beauty & filter camera app is available for both iOS & Android platforms & comes with 50+ filters that you can easily apply to your selfies before sharing them on your favorite social networks. The app also lets you make collages of up to 5 pictures, it has a timer & a tilt-shift for changing your depth of field.

It’s available for free in the Apple Store here & on the Google Play Store here.
