Amazon WorkSpaces Marketplace for desktop apps launched

Amazon has launched the Amazon WorkSpaces (AWS) Marketplace for desktop apps. This is a new place where users can search for & buy desktop applications in case they are using Amazon WorkSpaces. In a blog post, Amazon said these desktop apps were available in the AWS console, & could be deployed to a user’s WorkSpaces using the Amazon WorkSpaces Application Manager (Amazon WAM).

WorkSpaces was launched last year as a managed desktop computing service in the Cloud. It allows customers to easily fetch Cloud-based desktop that allows them access the documents, applications and resources they need for their professional & personal computing needs. It works with almost any device, including laptops, iPad, Kindle Fire, & Android Tablets.

The AWS Marketplace allows end-users access to a broad selection of managed desktop apps across more than 10 categories. These includeMicrosoft Visual Studio, Python, Microsoft Office, corelDRAW, among others.

End-users may purchase software within the Amazon WorkSpaces console via monthly subscriptions, & only pay for what they actually launch.
