‘Worona’ turns your WordPress blog into a mobile app – #New app

WordPress plugin

For all of you Website owners out there, here’s some good news. With this WordPress (WP) plugin called ‘Worona’, you can now convert your WordPress Site into a native iOS or Android app. This can be a godsend for the millions of WP users who have chosen this platform due to its low learning curve & ease of use & upkeep. It’s a chance for folks to ease into the mobile app space using a tried & true, familiar paradigm: the ubiquitous WP plugin.

Even though smartphones have become the device of choice for people to connect to the Internet, a lot of Sites still don’t work well on mobiles, having issues like lack of a responsive design (pages don’t resize well) or slow page loading times.  Worona is meant to solve these problems & to get you on a mobile in a quick & easy manner if you start out with a WP site. In fact, 1 out of every 4 sites on the web is already based on WordPress.

Worona consists of 2 components: the WordPress plugin, which will prepare your Site’s Content to be sent to the app, & the native app, which is coded with the popular Corona SDK. The plugin then takes your Site’s posts & presents them in the app. Among the most important features of Worona  are its ability to keep your users constantly up to date via push notifications & offline reading, so you don’t have to always have a Net connection.

The plugin also features the ability to add extensions that will add extra features to your app, such as an enhanced list, favorites, ads, categories, rate my app & a next button. Worona also has an ambitious roadmap for adding future features & enhancements:

  • Categories in the menu
  • Support pages
  • Support custom content
  • Easy customisation (adding more styles)

The basic package is free, & you can see how you can get started here. If you’re a pro, or a company, you may want to try 1 of their paid offerings: the ‘Publish’ package costs €150 & includes a build & publish feature, while the ‘Publish Pro’ package costs €250 & adds all of the available extensions.

Worona is a tech startup, & launched in Spain in 2015 with an open source project on Github. Since then, more than 7,000 users have downloaded the tool worldwide, in 150 different countries.
