‘WeQ’ launches ad tech company as rival to Google & Facebook

With the number of smartphone users in the world having gone past the US $2.1 billion mark in early 2017 it’s no wonder the mobile ads business is such big business. According to Wikipedia, mobile app install ads will account for over US $6.8 billion in mobile advertising revenue by the year 2020. Statista has also forecast that app downloads would reach 197 billion by the end of 2017 & jump to 352 billion in 2021.

WeQ is amobile ad tech company that although new looks to be making some big strides in the market. The company aspires to be a major player right alongside Google and Facebook which took about 58.5% of U.S mobile ad revenues in the year 2017. Its name is derived from what its executives term as a shift from the “I” culture to the “we” culture bringing about a more collaborative approach between people & technology.

Launched in April 2018 the company in its first month already has about US $50 million in debt capital that should prove critical in securing a favorable market position.

One of WeQ’s goals is to help app publishers run successful ad campaigns leading to massive numbers in user acquisition. The company’s strategy is to use its network of publishers as a source for quality users. Consequently, this feature results in global reach for its ad campaigns. The company uses a combination of both human & tech intelligence to not only get users to download an app but also to monitor post install behavior.

WeQ offers some of the most targeted & optimized mobile advertising services due to its proprietary in-house built technology.  The team developing the technology is led by Dr Steffen Wachenfeld who also happens to be the chief product officer.

The company is based in both Berlin, Germany & San Francisco in the US. WeQ boasts an employee count of about a 100 people from 30 different countries. Among these are machine learning engineers, data scientists & market specialists. According to CEO Markus Malti, there are some efforts towards growing the WeQ team along with expanding the company’s reach In the US through their San Francisco offices.

WeQ was founded by a group of Glispa, Hitfox & Adjust ex-employees who are industry leaders with a vast amount of experience in the mobile ad tech niche.

App publishers looking to use WeQ to run their campaigns will, of course, need to pay some money & in return will get a comprehensive range of ad services.
