There seems some doubt in people’s minds about whether this app is meant to be a Tinder-like dating device, or a ‘find-yourself-a-pal’ one. It’s understandable of course, because what this app allows you to do is take selfies & be matched with someone who likes the look of you. It’s like having a hi-tech means to do what is done on an instinctual level. You generally look at a person, & either want to make friends with them, or dislike them immediately.
But the makers of ‘Swapp’ have firmly denied allegations that their’s was a dating app at heart. It’s a free app, designed to give you the loads of friends who like the look of your face. The creators of swappselfies.com say their app is different from Tinder in 1 crucial area – it offers to post your selfies, not profiles. Only if someone likes you enough to reach you, can you expect a reciprocal gesture from them as they send you their selfie. You become friends & can expect a period of swapping each other’s pictures, engaging in conversations etc. It’s a more visual way designed to make friends.
The app is made by Power of Three Ltd, an Edinburgh, Scotland based company, helmed by Joe Tree. He is a BAFTA Award-winning designer and photographer & is interested in, “…marrying brilliant creative ideas with exciting technologies to build beautiful things which change people’s lives.”
