‘Todobook’ is Chrome extension that turns Facebook feed into productivity tool

There’s no denying it, Facebook is a huge time sink. We’re all guilty of overusing Facebook to the point where we keep putting off important tasks because we’re checking out our “friends’” feeds rather than actually getting things done.

‘Todobook’ presents you with a todo list before you start looking at your feed, so you’ll be motivated to work on your important stuff.

This Chrome extension is the idea of San Francisco, California, USA-based developer Ian Atanczyk. He writes in an Online statement that he’s had the idea in the works for a while. His tendency to procrastinate when using Facebook, led him to come up with something that would remind him to focus on what matters.

The idea is to strike up a good balance in your life between productivity & personal or fun activities. Todobook forces Facebook to greet you with a useful todo list instead of the dreaded news feed. As soon as you’ve completed all your todos you can go ahead & get back to your feed again.

The extension also gets rid of Facebook’s notification globe, & if you need a break from working on your tasks, you can just access your Facebook stuff as usual by temporarily disabling Todobook. This is done by clicking on the Todobook icon on the browser toolbar.

According to the product description, you need not have any privacy-related concerns or worry about securing your Facebook data since Todobook:

…does NOT access, read, edit, or store ANY of your data on Facebook, & never will. & it will NEVER post anything to Facebook on your behalf

According to Ian, the extension works across browser sessions, tabs & windows on the same computer. A 2nd version of Todobook is in the works that will also address Twitter.

The Todobook extension is freely available from the Chrome Web store here.
