‘TLDR’ keeps you updated on what’s happening via friends’ updates – New app

This free iOS app is an “easier, faster way to stay informed.” With TLDR you get a fun way of keeping up on world news & events in real time by seamlessly taking advantage of your friends’ posts on social media.

TLDR lets you easily share news articles that you think are important or interesting from within the Safari browser or from within the app. The share is referenced to a URL, then you can write a summary or comment of up to 120 characters so that your friends can get a quick idea of what it’s about.

You can peruse your friends’ articles or save them for later when you have some free time & read them at your leisure. It’s really convenient & you can miss & match from a bunch of social media. It’s up to what your friends share.

Actually, TLDR can be a better option than looking at your Twitter & Facebook feeds individually. It’s not cluttered & full of unwanted ads & you won’t get trolled as easily.

According to Brandon Hill, Co-founder of California, Bay Area-based Greo Engineering, the group behind TLDR, the app is a much better option than group messaging platforms like Groupme or Apple’s own iMessage app. The app does a great job of keeping track of the links you’ve sent & received.

Brandon also believes that TLDR is superior to the Pocket app, as Pocket is not really a very socially conscious app & most people don’t go back to read their Pocket articles later.

TLDR stands for “too long, don’t read” & was put together at Greo Engineering by a group of mostly recent Stanford grads. They were frustrated by the fact that there was “no quality place to go online to have a discussion about real issues—like immigration, tech news, misogyny in media, etc.” It’s their 2nd attempt at putting together a product of this type.

The app was just released & works on the iOS platform only.
