This one’s about social broadcasting – New app

live streamingWhen people hear the term ‘live’ streaming there are all these platforms that come to mind – Facebook live, YouTube, Twitch, Microsoft Mixer & also Twitter’s Periscope. These have been in the game for quite some time & help people share on various topics. These include entertainment, fashion, cooking, talk shows, news & more.

Gamers, however, have it rough though as they need to download 3rd-party software & set up a lot of minor technical details just to be able to share. Caffeine is a platform looking to make ‘live’ streaming easier for everybody in general inclusive of said gamers.

For Vlogs & similar content it is relatively easy using the platform. One option is to use the Website & would require only a few clicks to set up. The 2nd option would be to use the iPhone app. Both of these require the user to sign in first though.

When it comes to broadcasting games, however, things can get a little more complicated. 1st, the user needs to download the desktop app that is currently only available on Windows. This app nevertheless requires a certain class of processors to function. The Website includes a link to test the suitability of the user’s PC. That & signing in is nonetheless all there is to it.

The platform allows for viewers of a video to give feedback in the form of chat. This happens in real time with no delays between the broadcaster & the audience. In the case that responses are many the reactions are also filtered to give priority to the best comments. Even while a person is broadcasting a game the comments will appear right on their primary screen. As a result, there is no need to incorporate a secondary one.

Caffeine uses the follower system. Users will view broadcasts of people they follow. In addition, this system helps give users recommendations on who to follow for the Content they love. One can also share their broadcast on their Facebook & Twitter pages.

The participation of viewers in broadcasts by purchasing digital items is also rewarded using credits. These credits can later be used by the broadcaster to cash out for real money.

The platform is currently free to use though it’s possible that they might monetize in future. According to TechCrunch Caffeine is a byproduct of co-founders Ben Keighran & Sam Roberts who are 2 ex-Apple employees.
