‘ShareChat’ is an Online file sharing Service that allows users to share files without size limits & chat with the people they share the files with. Currently in beta, another plus is that it offers unlimited secure storage.
File sharing is a way to distribute digital Content (i.e. e-Books, computer programs, images, & video) with other Internet users. With some services you can choose who you share files with, but there are also many services/platforms out there that let anyone on the Internet see what you share.
There are different ways to distribute files over the Web:
• Peer to Peer – Files are held by the users, but the file details, such as the Filename & Metadata are held on directory servers so that you can find the computer hosting a particular file
• Web Hosting – ShareChat is an example of a Web Hosting solution that stores the files you want to share on their servers. You choose emails that you want to share with & they are given a special link (via email) that allows them to download your file
• Bit Torrent – bit torrent is an example of a P2P File Sharing network, but differs in how files are found & downloaded from peers.
ShareChat was developed by WoodWing Software, a technology company that specializes in Digital Asset Management, Multichannel Publishing, Digital Content Production, & Brand Management. These guys aim to help businesses grow faster through reducing costs, increasing quality, & shortening time-to-market.
ShareChat was started in 2015 by Gijs Hietbrink, Jan te Beest, Victor Manrique, Niels de Beukelaer, & Erwin Verdonk.
