This Chrome extension allows you to go incognito on Facebook chat

‘Ghost for Chat’ lets you use Facebook’s time sink chat feature & still remain productive. It does this by making you invisible when you’re chatting, so no one knows you’re Online, & that way you’re virtually ‘not there’ to your chat community while using it.

ghostforchatThe app/extension blocks the small green dot & the time stamp on the “Last Seen” next to the image on the chat screen, as well as the “Seen On” status. This allows you to be involved in any conversation that strikes your fancy without getting sucked into Facebook’s productivity black hole. If you appear as not available, no one will bother you & you can concentrate on targeting particular users or groups on very specific topics, which can really help you focus on particular marketing activities.

Ghost for Chat calls this ‘Ghost Mode’, which, as the name implies, means nobody can see, & yet you can still see everyone.  The other important feature of the app is ‘Unseen Message’, with which you can send messages to your chatmates & get replies from them & they´ll never know you’ve read them.

So, basically, as the Winnipeg, Canada-based company, which is led by founder & CEO, Haim Pekel, claims in the product page:

Ghost for Chat allows you to vanish from Facebook’s chat and talk to whomever you’d like without getting caught. You’ll leave no “since you have been on” traces, no little green balls next to your name and you won’t appear on the chat list!

The extension can be installed on your browser from the Chrome Web store, & is available in 2 different pricing packages: The ‘Super Ghost’, costing US$ 19.90/year, & for US $1.99/month, you can get the ‘Active Ghost’ package, which pretty much gives you the same as the Super Ghost package, but with the difference that it won’t hassle you for a month instead of a year.
