The tale of an Emperor & an app

new messaging app

Sure, it’s good to have different accounts for different groups, which allow you to keep in touch with so many of your contacts. There’s your work-related clients, your college buddies, your gym hangout people, your list of good sources, & so on.. You realize how challenging it is to keep track of multiple conversations in different apps & browser windows. You may prefer Whatsapp but your buddy likes Facebook Messenger. Having multiple chat platforms can leave you feeling exhausted. Let the long dead esteemed Emperor Franz of the Austrio-Hungarian Empire help you.

Here’s how:

Franz’ is a free desktop app which lets you have 1 application manager for upto 8 messaging services. So you are good with Slack, HipChat, Facebook Messenger, Telegram, WhatsApp, Google Hangouts, Skype & Grape. The app advocates complete privacy, so the app doesn’t read what is in your messages. Hurray for privacy! Franz even gives you the power to add every service multiple times, if you want.

Which is a boon considering how many different communities you are a part of typically, each with their own protocols for messaging. Having faced these issues first hand, Franz developer, Stefan Malzner, gritted his teeth and entered Electron (open source) in GitHub which helped him through the process of creating a desktop application using any of these heavyweights – HTML, CSS, & JavaScript with Chromium, & Node.js.

Malzner, is based in Vienna, Austria, & is a veteran in the tech industry. He founded his first startup at the age of 14. He now works as a digital designer, & has also created Horst, Grete, Bloodirony Games, Indiegame.at. Franz is a Mac app, & the Windows version is in the works.
