Test your Web services with ‘Assertible’ & gain confidence in your infrastructure

assertible

Assertible is a Web-based tool for QA testing & monitoring your production Web services & APIs by the creation of robust assertions, reproducible test cases & details into HTTP request failures. Developers & QA pros can use the tool to create & automate tests through a dashboard, which also lets you view detailed results for failing & passing tests.

The tool takes a 3 pronged approach:

  • Ease of use in the creation of strong & meaningful assertions for Web apps
  • You can monitor Web services & will be alerted when they’re not working the way you expect
  • Integration with Slack & other 3rd party services

To start using Assertible, you begin with your Swagger API spec (Swagger is the most widely used RESTful API representation tool), which you import into Assertible. With this, the tool gets started on testing all your endpoints, route parameter detection, setting up default API auth, etc…

Tests, which are requests to HTTP endpoints, are run by making assertions on the responses, on a specified schedule, for which you get a result in 1 of 3 known states: Pending, Failing or Passing. The results will give you insight into how well your Web services are performing; giving you detailed data on what may have caused something to go wrong.

Assertible’s automation features help you to define hooks, so that when something happens with a test, like a failure, you run an action, like sending an email or an HTTP request. You can run tests on schedules & with flexible frequencies so that you can set up hands-off Web monitoring for your services. There is also support for integrations with Slack channels, so you can send real-time notifications to a team Slack channel whenever your test fails.

You can even run tests created in the tool programmatically (from outside the Assertible dashboard), so you can incorporate them into an existing test suite & have other team members run them that don’t necessarily have access to Assertible.

The Houston, Texas, USA-based startup was recently founded by Cody Reichert & his brother, who both are young but experienced developers & entrepreneurs. Their pricing plans consist of 3 options: a free personal plan that lets you monitor 3 API’s & run up to 100 tests with a retention period of 30 days; an organization plan, which starts at US $79/month with 50 API’s, run up to 1000 tests with a retention period of 1 year; & an enterprise plan which ups the numbers to 200 API’s, 10,000 tests & unlimited requests, for US $199/month.
