Up until recently Cloud computing was mainly devoted to giving the public access to apps & storage so that users could access their stuff from anywhere via any Internet-connected device. Now, ‘Sixa’ offers you the possibility of having an entire computer & its full range of processing power, apps & graphics capabilities available to you Online. If you’re a developer, designer, video editing aficionado or gamer, you no longer need to haul along a bulky laptop to get your daily computing fix.

The startup was founded by Ukrainian entrepreneurs & software engineers Mykola Minchenko & Ievgen Nechaiev, in 2015 & is based in San Francisco, USA. Its stated aim is with Sixa is to make it easy & simple to own & upgrade your computer by making it so you longer have to periodically update your hardware every time your needs increase. Team Sixa has created an experience where their Cloud offering gives you a similar feel as a physical computer, including the ability to play games or edit video without the degradation of performance that is common on the cloud, like dropped frames, poor picture quality, bad sound…

Sixa’s initial focus was on developers, but they have also targeted designers & gamers of late, an audience that can be as demanding as developers, if not more so. The “computers” offered by Sixa start with a basic offering of an Intel Xeon E5-2666 v3 (Haswell) processor & an integrated GPU, with16 vCPU, 30 Gb RAM & a 200 Gb SSD disk, which is meant for developers & gamers, with a basic price of US $0.49/hr (or $49/mo). They offer an ever higher-end computer targeted at designers with an Intel Xeon E5-2670 v3 (Sandy Bridge) Processor, an NVIDIA GPU-6,144 CUDA cores, 16B of video memory, 32 vCPU, 60 Gb RAM & a 200 Gb SSD Disk, for US $0.59/hr (or $59/mo).

The software offering consists of MS Windows 2012 R2 with a bevy of pre-installed titles like Visual Studio 2015 Community, Ruby, FileZilla, Adobe Flash, etc, & you have the option of installing any app as you would normally do in your home PC. You can access your Cloud computer from an Android device, from MS Windows or from Mac OS X.
