PixTeller – a fusion of technology, innovation, creation & fun – CEO Speak

This service makes designers almost obsolete, we say. Created by a Romanian Web designer Alexandru Roznovat, PixTeller is an instant design studio with ready-made templates. All that users have to do is use whichever one they like to create banners, or Instagram memes or whatever takes their fancy. Launched in 2014, PixTeller has grown with every passing day. This is the PixTeller story as told by its founder Alexandru.

Being a technology lover, I like to keep up to date with new inventions that make the world better and smarter. Before PixTeller, I launched one of the 1st Web templates store in the world: GecoTemplates (2006). I also had some ambitious projects like Niuzer.com & Sunlize.com. Although not successful in all their details, these opened new pathways for my future ideas.

If I’m not coding, you’ll find me navigating on specific scientific Websites or searching for the latest technology news, as well as feeding my curiosity on general subjects on social media. And that’s where I got the PixTeller idea from.

While navigating through the Web on a social platform, I got impressed by people’s increasing wish to express themselves through images. At that point there were not some many accessible design tools on the market, & those available were rather expensive & hard to learn. And I knew that I can change the way people think of design tools and show them that it can be creative, fun, cheap & easy-to-use for everyone.

After launching the 1st version of PixTeller in September 2014, that was just a simple design platform mainly for picture quotes, I was amazed by the large number of people around the globe who were using my app, creating thousands of images every single day. And that was the point when I started to invest in a new PixTeller version, focusing on technology, innovation & diversity of creation.

At the beginning there were only 2 of us: me (Alex) & Florin, & we really had to overcome many challenges. There were fun, as well as hard and exhausting moments, when we burned our brains on getting the best results. Today, we’ve over 100000 registered users & around 25000 active users on a monthly basis.

Building the team is always a challenge for any entrepreneur. This is mainly because you have to find the right people who believe in your idea & imagine what you can achieve forward together. It’s all about believing, hard work, having patience & taking risks, because in the end there are no guarantees.

I am lucky to have a small but great team, which is working side by side with me & love what they are doing. Mainly,
we are 3 full-time professional developers.

The other members of our team are working part-time, as well as few friends who help.

My advice for being a successful entrepreneur (any kind) is not the one that succeeds over the night. Don’t stop believing, take risks, make mistakes, fail & rise again. There might be many hard & discouraging moments, but nothing compares to the moment when your idea will come alive.
