‘PickedMail’ is personal AI that helps your Inbox learn what you care about – New app

This free personal email app for your iPhone, ‘PickedMail’ learns & adapts to the way you pick & unpick emails, eventually saving you time. It starts out with a rough idea of what you think is a useful email is & then listens to you as you train it & winds up closely following your instructions autonomously when picking relevant new messages.

Most email apps implement AI in such away that you have to do a lot of work up front to come up with a classification scheme based on filters & rules. PickedMail has opted for something beyond a deep neural network, where each user is backed by a “unique AI model.” The model is continuously trained by the user’s behavior, resulting in an AI that closely matches the user’s changing behavior patterns.

PickedMail, still in an early stage of development, picks out relevant emails & places them in a separate tab from less important messages. Initially, it starts out applying a standard/average preference, & as you pick & tag mail as unimportant or move it to the ‘picked’ tab (by swiping) the AI gradually learns your preferences & future emails are classified based on your behavior.

According to claims made on the PickedMail Site, the app will sync your preferences in a very short time & you can expect a 90%+ accuracy within 3 days of normal use.

The app also comes with email tracking, so you’ll be able to read receipts that let you know when your messages have been read. It comes with a handy “fast read” feature that, as you scroll through a message list, all emails you’ve seen on the screen are instantly marked as having been read after a period of time. This really speeds up going over emails without worrying about missing important messages.

PickedMail can also sync with Gmail & has a snooze feature, which can really come in handy.

The app is under development by Thywis Inc. which was formed by current students & recent graduates from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign (UIUC) Computer Science Department.

You can get it for free from the Apple App Store here
